And the plan has changed again!
I got up at 6.15am showered & dressed and just as I finished there was lightning and thunder followed by RAIN....3 hours later it's STILL raining!
SO no craft fair for me :-(
I just need to put everything away again now *sigh*
'Scuse the bad photo...it's so dark here...but this is the collection of goodies I had gathered to take with me....time to put them away again!
Have good Sundays everybody :-)

2,4,7,11,14,17...20!

I have spent the past few evenings counting buttons!

They have all been counted into bags, photographed for the website (all done! no broken web pages at all!) and are now residing in my fancy drawers.
This weekend I'm in the shop on Saturday but on Sunday John & I and our friends are off to Shoreham Airshow for the day...they'll be lots of planes AND a craft tent ..... guess where I'll be ;-)

Next week I want to get some sewing done....I don't seem to have made anything at all this week!

fabulous bunnies

I entered a give away on a blog I love to read and I only went and won!
woo-hoo!
My prize arrived yesterday and I snapped some photos before going to the Land of Buttons :-)
sadly my photos don't do this gorgeous Babushka Bunny justice so I have borrowed this photo from the blog in question :-)
Thank you Area Thrifty One, I can't wait to sew my bunny!
And if you want to sew your own bunny you can pick one in your favourite colour here

The Land Of Buttons

Today I went to visit my button supplier.
I was let loose in a room stacked FULL of buttons...buttons in boxes on the shelves on the wall, buttons all over the worktops and buttons piled in boxes on the floor....it was amazing!

They let me rummage, drink coffee and rummage some more!

I emerged two hours later with a depleted purse and a box full of buttons :-)
When I got home I realised I had no where to put my buttons....after a spot of re-arranging all my buttons are stored away.

John got these drawers for me...they came from an old garage/workshop that he helped clear and were filthy...they've been scrubbed and washed and now are in pride of place on my packing bureau...lovely!

I've got a lot of button counting & packing to do this week but everything should be on the website by the end of the week (presuming I don't break it again!!)
It was so nice to meet a supplier face-to-face, especially when they were all so welcoming and friendly, I would highly recommend it if you ever get the chance!

The tidy bug

Today I finally got an attack of the-tidy-bug (seriously, it doesn't happen that often!)
Remember I got a delivery of felt? Well, I stacked it neatly on my living room floor, and then it collapsed ::

Why did I not just put it away? well, because it has to fit on here ::
and as there is no room on here, it meant a BIG tidy up :-)
I got a bit side tracked and took photos of my tidy ribbon ::
It's just a chopped down cardboard box, with bits of packaging card from work as dividers ::
but back to the job in hand ::
I laid it all out in colour order (nice shot of my feet !)
realised that tidying felt is actually FUN because I love felt!! It's so pretty :-)
and here is the shelf which miraculously has room for everything, with just a little persuasion ;-)

mini rainbows

In the felt order that I received yesterday were lots of little bundles of 4" square felt.
And I spent the evening stacking them into little mini felt rainbows!

Each mini rainbow contains one piece of each colour of felt that I sell, which I think is the perfect way to sample all the lovely colours.

I've stacked them in the order they are listed on my swatch card and I think they look yummy!

schmoozing

The company I work for has sponsored a local sporting event and today I left the shop at lunchtime to go to a boozy sponsors lunch :-)
It's the first time I've done this and I thought it might be kinda stuffy and dull, but actually I had lots of fun!
The sports venue is just round the corner from the shop so I went back to work afterwards (for 30 minutes) and got very excited because my felt order had arrived!!
I knew it was coming but had forgotten because of all the schmoozing!!
I phoned John, and luckily he was on his way home, so he came to the shop and helped me carry my order home :: felt is heavy you know!

also in the photo are:: john's feet, my sewing trays, my handbag (it's red) and my posh-going-for-lunch shoes!
oooohhhh AND on Tuesday next week I am off to visit my button supplier (oh, my poor credit card ) so all out-of-stock buttons will return soon AND who knows what other goodies I will find !!

I love shops

I think I was born to be a shop keeper.
I manage a men's outfitters for my day job.
I dream of having my own craft store one day...with a mixture of supplies and made things, but that's a whole other post!
AND now I have another online shop!

That's right, I've joined Folksy.

website and sunshine

This morning John and I took a short drive to Littlehampton and wandered by the sea, before having a hearty breakfast in a cafe by the harbour...it was great!
We sat on the beach afterwards and watched the boats and the general busy-ness of a beach on a sunny day....it was lovely, I just hope our holiday (at the end of September) is just as relaxing :-)

I then spent the rest of today mending my website!
Most of the pages are still hidden BUT every single page of the 'live' site is finished (there are two separate weird things going on but I'll phone mr. site tomorrow and see if they can fix that!)
There's still a lot left for me to do but there's definitely light at the end of the tunnel now!

*phew*

*pictures are just a random mix of pics I added to the website today

relaxing

Last night I just felt like sewing. I didn't feel like sorting stock or mending broken websites or updating my etsy shop.

All I wanted to do was sew.

So I did :-)

I already had these iron-on patches cut out so it was nice and relaxing, just me and my stitching!
I'm working tomorrow but have booked Monday and Tuesday off work so I can have a nice long weekend catching up on all the things I need to do, but tonight? I think a little bit more stitching will be going on!

CUTE !!
and I bought a new note book ::
AND a little glass :-)
I love it because it has a donkey on it :-)
now go shopping, you know you want to !

I think I broke it!

Today I ruined my website ....
well, maybe that's a bit drama-queen-y.

I re-designed the order of the pages and the content of said pages on paper the other day and at about 12 o'clock sat at the computer and started the big re-design.

But somehow I forgot about all the links ... which I managed to break (and those that stayed put then linked to the wrong page *duh*)

SO for today I am beaten....I have used (many times) the handy 'hide page' gadget for all the cocked up pages and the pages that are still up are slightly sparse(and some items are on the wrong page!) the good news is that the supplies shop section stayed near enough in tact (hurrah!) AND because I stayed up late last night counting buttons into bags I was determined to get them in the shop.

So if you take a look and see some weirdness, never mind! 'twill be fixed soon-ish :-)

White wine and feet up now, cheerio!!
*photos are some of the new buttons, which arrived yesterday....

stocking up

Tomorrow I plan to re-do my website....adding new pages and making room for new products. I find it to be a slow process, mostly because it's a bit boring and I get distracted ;-)

I've ordered some new supplies and have received two parcels...one with beads (for eyes!) and findings and the other (which only arrived today) full of BUTTONS!!!

I'm off to play with buttons............I LOVE my craft job :-)

bye bye Camilla

Today John waved goodbye to his favourite car.....
...5 years ago he bought a wreck of a car and slowly but surely poured a lot of time, love and expertise into it's restoration. The car is a 2-stroke Saab (bullnose 1962) in a beautiful soft grey with a blue interior (seat covers darned by John - both of us sitting either end of the sofa sewing away...bliss!)....we have used and enjoyed and shown off John's car for the past year or so but other projects are demanding John's time (and space!) so it was time to find Camilla a home.

Her new owner is a fan of the make and model and he wanted one last classic before his health deteriorated beyond driving capabilities ....honestly, we couldn't have asked for a nicer new owner (his wife is lovely too, but really, these cars are toys for the boys!) We left feeling sure that Camilla (named because the number plate was ***CAM) would be cherished and enjoyed...the perfect new home for her!
It's a bittersweet day....it feels like the end of an era, but I know there are more cars that John can work his magic on and bring back to life so it really should feel like the start of a new era :-)
